Why Socrates Hated Democracy

I wonder what Socrates would think of American democracy today. In theory, we should be more educated as information is more widespread and accessible; however, it would appear that more information has not always led to more wisdom. Particularly, in this day and age where people do not really think much about the information they consume and algorithms just keep feeding us what we want to hear.
