The Paradox of Choice: Why More is Less

This short read challenged a stance I’ve held as a defensive strategy: I should only buy the absolute best in each category because it would lead to less consumption and a step away from consumerism. However, the article and Schwartz argue the opposite. If we spend X amount of time on decisions like choosing bed sheets, headphones, and water bottles, we’re taking that time away from decisions that could actually help us become better individuals. My only dilemma here is that should we settle for less than best in most decisions then? What do you think?
