Amor Fati: the Stoics’ and Nietzsche’s Different Takes on Loving Fate

While the Stoics and Nietzsche both believed in loving your fate, their thinking on the idea had some important differences. The Stoics believed that the world around them was rational and purposeful and so it would be irrational to be upset with what transpires. Nietzsche, however, viewed the world as chaotic and without purpose and amor fati being a way to accept the good and the bad, because one does not exist without the other. Life must be taken as a whole, not in selective parts.
